PAGE, Ariz. – Hope International men's golf leaned on Caeden Cheah and Ashtin Mount for individual top-10 performances to conclude play at The Bandy Invitational on Tuesday.
Cheah finished in a tie for sixth and Mount secured 10th place overall as the Royals posted a fourth place team finish. HIU shot a 19-over 595 on the par-72, 6,922-yard Lake Powell National Golf Course.
Cheah, a senior, carded a 1-over 145 as he shot even par in the second round. He logged five birdies and an eagle on Tuesday, and added two more birdies on Monday in a strong effort.
Fellow senior Mount finished just one stroke behind Cheah with a 36-hole aggregate 146. Mount had three birdies in each round, shooting even par on Monday.
Rounding out the Royals scoring lineup, Chris Ruiz tied for 16th with a 5-over 149 (76-73), Evan Lambert finished in 40th at 13-over 157 (77-80) and Brooks Perry tied for 42nd at 14-over 158 (75-83).
Embry-Riddle won the team championship with an even par score of 576. Simpson was second at 586, host Arizona Christian third (594) and HIU fourth (595). Benedictine Mesa was fifth (596), College of Idaho sixth (599) and Florida College seventh (620).
Apollos Morris of ACU earned individual medalist honors with a 6-under 138 (70-68).Â
The Royals compete in the La Sierra Dual on Tuesday, April 14 at The Trilogy at La Quinta.
