ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Hope International men's track and field team competed at the GSAC Championships April 23-25, testing its mettle in sprints and distance events against a strong conference field.
Daniel Perez participated in two events, with his best finish being ninth place in the 800 meter finals. He ran the event in 2:01.08 after qualifying for the finals with a preliminary time of 2:02.86.
Perez also competed in the 1500 meters, finishing 17th in 4:22.22.Â
Luis Contreras also represented the Royals in the 800 and 1500. He finished 23rd in the 1500 in 4:22.22 and 24th in the 800 in 2:23.29.
In the 5000 meter run, Caleb Ornelas clocked a 16:54.30 to place 20th out of 23 competitors.
Landen Prather ran a pair of sprint events for HIU, coming in 14th place with a 400 meter run effort of 56.86 seconds. He also posted a 24.14 time in the 200 meter dash for 18th place.
