Fullerton, CA - The Hope International men's and women's track and field team competed in two events over the weekend as they first competed in the Friday Night Lights Invite at Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, CA on Friday evening and then competed in the Cerritos Invite on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals started with a strong performance at Cal State Fullerton on Friday evening.
Daniel Perez ran a personal record and placed in the top 3 in the 800-meter dash with a strong time of 1:58.00. Not too far was his teammate Senior
Diego Pineda also putting up a personal record of 2:02.00 and placing top 10 in a very competitive group this year.Â
Andy Avalos also clocked an impressive time of 2:07.00. Â
Lupe Mata continued to lead the women with a strong performance in the 800-meter dash (2:31.00) setting a new personal record.
Then on Saturday
Caleb Ornelas and
Daniel Perez led the Royals with strong performances in the steeplechase. Daniel broke the school record and placed in the top three with a time of 10:27.00, and Ornelas finished just five second behind in 10:31.00.  Senior
Diego Pineda had a super strong double performance in the 1500 (4:23.00) and the 800 meter dash (2:03.00). Not too far behind was Caleb who got right back up and completed a strong 800 meter dash (2:06.00).Â
Andy Avalos also finished strong in the 800 meter dash (2:07.00).
One of the superstar performances of the day wasÂ
Lupe Mata clocking in a 24 second personal record in the 1500-meter dash with a time of 5:11.00.
The Royals will continue action next week at San Francisco State.
