LA QUINTA, Calif. – Senior Chris Ruiz shot a 1-over 73 to lead the Hope International men's golf team in a dual against La Sierra on Tuesday at the Trilogy at La Quinta.
Ruiz tied for third in the field with Tyler Cole from La Sierra on the par-72, 6,815-yard course. Ruiz posted birdies on the par-4, 393-yard seventh hole and par-5, 526-yard 16th hole.
Dominick Rivera finished in fifth place with a 2-over 74, highlighted by four birdies. Evan Lambert was sixth overall with a 4-over 76.
Other participating Royals included Ashtin Mount and Matt Grimonprez, who both tied for 7th with a round of 78, Brooks Perry (t-9th, 79), Caeden Cheah (11th, 83), Drew Young (12th, 85) and Mateusz Zarzycki (14th, 90).
La Sierra won the dual with a score of 7-over par, defeating the Royals by 11 shots.
Kyle Harford of the Golden Eagles led the field with a top score of 1-under 71.
The Royals prepare for the GSAC Championship, which will be held April 20-22 at the La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, Calif.
