FULLERTON – Hope International won five of six singles matches to topple Haverford College, 5-2, in men's tennis action on Thursday at the Fullerton Tennis Center.

The Royals lost two tough matches at the top two spots on the doubles ladder. Marko Arboleda and Robbie Vazquez defeated Karan Srivastava and Thomas Folsom, 6-4, at No. 1. The HIU tandem of Dylan Barrett and Kaito Henderson fell by the same score at No. 2 to Teo Bortan and Stefan Johnson.

HIU won at No. 3 doubles, where Sebastien Dizon Perez and Mohamed El Sheikh downed Niki Lavu and Caden Hsia by a 6-1 score.

The Royals earned points four and five simultaneously as Perez at No. 4 and Kento Henderson at No. 6 won their contests. Perez defeated Noah Wolff 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 and Henderson prevailed 2-6, 7-6 (4), 10-6.

Srivastava protected the top spot on the singles ladder with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Chait Krishna. Folsom also logged a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Zach Miano on court No. 2.

El Sheikh went 2-0 on the afternoon as he topped Arnav Nemali by a 2-6, 6-0, 10-5 score, the third Royal to win a singles match after losing the first set.

HIU is off for the next two weeks and returns to action for a GSAC match at OUAZ on Thursday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m.
