GLENDALE, Ariz. – Senior Karan Srivastava captured the title in the singles draw to headline the achievements of Hope International men's tennis players at the ITA West Regional from October 1-3.

Srivastava, who entered as the No. 2 seed in the draw, won five straight matches to claim the championship after earning a bye in the round of 64. He defeated four straight opponents from Arizona Christian, upending Judah Vlad (6-0, 6-2), Toby Frantz (6-3, 6-2), No. 7 seed Nicolas Planas (6-1, 6-2) and No. 6 seed Mike Wood (6-1, 6-4).

After taking down the two seeded opponents in the quarterfinals and semifinals, Srivastava battled No. 1 seed Oleksandr Kolesnychenko from Stanton in the finals. Srivastava dropped a set for the first time in the tournament, but rebounded for the 6-7 (7), 7-5, 10-6 triumph to hoist the trophy.

Srivastava was one of several Royals to experience success in Arizona. No. 12 seed Sebastien Dizon Perez reached the quarterfinals after knocking off three straight OUAZ foes – Joshua Luu (6-0, 6-1), Kasper Olofsson (6-3, 6-2) and No. 5 seed Enzo Ceravolo (3-6, 6-4, 10-3). His run ended in a defeat to fourth-seeded Fenosoa Rasendra of ACU by scores of 6-3, 7-5.

Other Royals to win matches in the round of 64 included Michael Lumang, David Gutierrez, Mohamed El Sheikh and Kaito Henderson.

In the doubles draw, Dizon Perez and El Sheikh made the furthest run for the Royals, reaching the semifinals before falling to ACU's Wood and Rasendra, 8-2. The seventh-seeded duo upset Stanton's No. 2 pairing of Kolesnychenko and Lemiel Taira-Hoy, 8-4, in the quarterfinals.

Srivastava now advances to nationals and competes in the ITA Cup, which runs October 15-18 at Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga. He battles Southeastern's Piero Fernandez on Thursday at 6:00 a.m. (PT) in a round of 16 matchup.
