Hope International guard Angelina De Leon was named the Great Southwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week after her performance in last Saturday's win over Park Gilbert.

De Leon contributed to a defensive masterclass in helping the Royals hold the Buccaneers to 34 points in a 31-point win. She had a career-best three blocked shots and tied her career-highs in rebounds (9) and steals (4). Seven of her nine boards came on the defensive end.

De Leon helped hold the Buccaneers to 0 of 25 shooting from three-point range before the visitors hit a triple with a minute and a half remaining in the game.
