Irvine, CA – The Hope International men's soccer team's (5-1-2) won their second game in a row as they defeated the La Sierra Golden Eagles 4-1 on Saturday evening at the OC Great Park Soccer Stadium in Irvine, CA.
The Royals and Golden Eagles started the game with high intensity as both teams went on the attack. It was the Royals who struck first in the 11th minute as
Dario Robles found
Willy Loredo-Suarez who blasted a beautiful goal into the top right corner to open the scoring and make it 1-0. The Golden Eagles fought back and were able to equalize in the 25th minute off a great free kick to make it 1-1. Then a few minutes before halftime the Royals retook the lead as
Juan Vargas crossed the ball into the path of his brother
Jesus Vargas who put it away to make it 2-1 in the 38th minute which was where the score stood at halftime. The Royals continued to attack in the second as they weren't content with their lead and it paid off as
Tyler Moch charged down the right side and laid a great ball to Robles who finished in the 59th minute to put the Royals up 3-1. Then several minutes later the Royals put the game away as
Cory Booth after just coming on stole the ball in the backfield and finished past the goalkeeper for his first goal of the season in the 62nd minute to increase the lead to 4-1. Oscar Sierra got the start in goal and recorded one save as the Royals emerged victorious.
The Royals continue their season on the road as they open up GSAC play by traveling to Northern California to face William Jessup on Thursday, September 29 at 1:30 PM in Rocklin, CA.
