Lane, Landry, Mahoney Earn Marquee Baseball Honors

Hope International garnered three major awards in conjunction with Sunday's announcement of the 2026 GSAC Baseball All-Conference Team with the selections of Newcomer of the Year Isaiah Lane, Pitcher of the Year Josh Landry, and Coach of the Year Larry Mahoney.

Presented by Under Armour, the all-conference list includes Lane and Landry, as well as pitcher Jake Thrift. The Royals also had three players named to the GSAC Gold Glove Team in Lane, Landry and first baseman Colby Moran.

Lane, a shortstop from Chula Vista, Calif., is the first Royal to be named Newcomer of the Year. The University of San Diego transfer had an immediate impact in the lineup after arriving 13 games into the 2026 season. He hit .394 with seven doubles and a team-leading three triples and seven home runs. Lane is tied for second on the team with 37 runs scored and ranks fourth with 24 RBI. He also drew 22 walks. Lane is atop the GSAC leaderboard in on base percentage (.530) and slugging percentage (.721), while ranking fourth in average.

In the field, Lane was reliable, posting a .984 fielding percentage with just two errors in 124 chances.

Landry continues a long line of storied hurlers at Hope International, becoming the program's fifth Pitcher of the Year honoree in the last six seasons. The southpaw finished the regular season 9-3 with a 2.16 ERA, striking out 94 batters in 66.2 innings pitched. He tied for the league lead in strikeouts, while ranking second in wins and ERA, and tied for third in innings pitched. He struck out 10 or more batters in six games, including 13 against The Master's and Benedictine Mesa.

He broke two career records, becoming the program's new flag bearer for total wins (25) and strikeouts (278). As a Gold Glove honoree, he fielded his position as well as anyone, finishing the campaign with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Mahoney received his fourth Coach of the Year award – the third consecutive year he earned the accolade – as he led the Royals to their third straight GSAC regular season championship. The Royals finished the regular season 34-13 overall and went 22-6 in GSAC play. HIU has been ranked in the NAIA top 25 all season long, currently slotted at 18th nationally, and had an eight-game winning streak during the season.

The fifth-year head coach met two coaching milestones this season, earning his 200th career victory overall and 100th in GSAC competition. He is 203-71 for his career with a 106-25 mark in conference games.

Thrift, a junior from Moorpark, joined the starting rotation from the outset and performed at an elite level. The left-hander logged a 6-1 record with a 1.49 ERA in 11 starts, fanning 59 hitters in 60.1 innings. He allowed just 44 hits, which included just six doubles, no triples and no home runs. Thrift struck out five or more in nine starts. He led the GSAC in ERA and opposing batting average (.204) while ranking eighth in strikeouts. He currently leads the NAIA in ERA.

Moran gives HIU three Gold Glove winners in one season for the third time, joining the 2019 and 2022 teams. The first baseman posted a .986 fielding percentage with just five errors in 345 chances.

HIU opens the GSAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, taking on No. 4 seed Benedictine Mesa on Monday at 2:00 p.m. inside the OC Great Park Stadium.
