Hope International's Eric Valdivia and Josh Landry garnered GSAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week accolades after helping the Royals to a 4-1 record.
Valdivia broke Hope International single-game school records for home runs (4), RBI (11) and total bases (16) in a 16-3 victory over Bethesda on Tuesday. He finished the game 4-for-4 with a walk, tying a school record with five runs scored. He also went 1-for-2 in Saturday's 8-2 win at Arizona Christian.
Landry threw a complete game three-hit shutout in Friday's 2-0 win at Arizona Christian, walking none and striking out 11. It was the fifth double-digit strikeout effort this season and the ninth of his career. The southpaw retired the first 15 Firestorm hitters before his no-hit bid was spoiled by a leadoff single in the sixth. He struck out the side in the first and fourth innings, and won his school record 25th game. In Tuesday's 16-3 win over Bethesda, Landry pitched one scoreless inning and broke the HIU career wins record with his 24th on a designated staff day.
It was Landry's fifth career GSAC weekly honor.
