Box Score ROCKLIN, Calif. – Hope International men's volleyball fell in straight sets against Jessup on Tuesday by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 at Warrior Arena.
The Royals hit .095 (25-19-63) as a team, led by eight kills from Alessandro Spendolini. Hugo Gonzalez Gutierrez added six kills and Jah'mi Jeter five.
Jessup hit .381 (34-10-63) with a team-high six kills from Jonas Mueller.
Sam D'Ambrosio handed out 15 assists and Steve Tong led the backrow with six digs.
In set one, the Warriors used a 5-1 run to turn a close 13-11 battle into an 18-12 lead. Jessup went on for the 25-18 victory.
There were 10 ties in set two. With the score evened at 13-13, the Warriors reeled off seven straight points to put the set away. Jessup took the set by a score of 25-17.
HIU led 8-6 in set three, but Jessup roared back on a 6-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. The Warriors extended their lead to six at 19-13 – and the closest HIU could get was 20-16. Jessup scored the final three points of the match and won set three 25-17.
The Royals play at Simpson on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. first serve.
