Trey Seeley of the Hope International baseball program has been drafted by the San Francisco Giants on the final day of the MLB draft in Cumberland, Georgia.
The senior right handed pitcher from Huntington Beach, CA was selected by the Giants in Round 14 as pick 416. Seeley has been one of the best pitchers in Royals history compiling a 23-4 record with a 2.72 ERA and 262 strikeouts. The reigning GSAC Pitcher of the Year and NAIA All-American Seeley set a new single season record with a 1.72 ERA and 12 wins this past season along with throwing the Royals first ever 9 inning no hitter. He also set a new career record for most wins with 23 and ranks second in strikeouts and fourth in ERA. Seeley becomes the fifth Royal to be drafted and second under Head Coach
Larry Mahoney. Seeley is the fourth Royals pitcher to be drafted after Hector Garcia was selected by the Minnesota Twins in 2023. Seeley now joins Garcia, Justin Friedman (Chicago White Sox), Shaine McNeely (New York Yankees) and Cameron Baranek who was taken by the Miami Marlins.
