Nashville, TN - The Hope International STUNT program captured their first STUNT the Sport NAIA Division National Championship as they took down Missouri Baptist twice over the weekend at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.
As the number one seed going into the National Championship the Royals had a bye for game one. Missouri Baptist played Central Methodist, and the Spartans defeated the Eagles with a score of 13-6, advancing the Spartans for the Royals first competition. The Royals easily controlled the game throughout, securing the win 14-1. The mercy rule is enacted in championship games leading to only one round in quarter four being played. Highlight of the game of playing PS7 and the perfect execution. The Royals kept the levels high on their calls and the Spartans kept in low on their calls. Power players for game one were
Giselle Baeza,
Nicole Contreras,
Kamea Binnquist, Ivy Martnez,
Alexis Lorenzo. The win advanced the Royals to the Championship game.
In the final game the Royals once again faced the Spartans after they faced off against the CMU Eagles once again in the double elimination semifinals winning with a score of 13-6. The energy of the arena at Lipscomb University was electric as the Royals dominated and scored on every round in quarters one, two and three. Knowing that quarter four would only be one round, the Royals deferred at the coin toss win to ensure they were in control of the last round called and the Royals went big and called routine 8. This is the highlight of the tournament- PS8 performed with perfection, JT8 was played for the first time and PT8 was played with precision. The Royals secured the points on PS and PT to win the game and the title of National Champions with a 14-0 score. Power players were
Sophia Rosendale,
Nicole Contreras,
Kamea Binnquist,
Mackenzie Flowers and
Alexis Lorenzo.
This is the 4th trip for the Royals to the championships, every year HIU has had a team and the first win. Previous placements were third in 2022 and 2023 and the runner up in 2024. The Royals faced Central Methodist back in 2023 and defeated them 20-1 and they have taken on Missouri Baptist four previous times in the championships with scores of 12-6, 11-5, 20-1 and 22-5 with the Royals always the victor. Overall, the Royals are now 6-0 over the Spartans.
