STUNT Wins Second Straight National Title

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Hope International STUNT once again brought home the NAIA Division National Championship, and as the number one seed throughout the season the Royals continued their dominance and earned three straight shutout games to easily win the title.

In game one, the Royals faced Central Methodist, meeting the Eagles for the first time since 2023.  The Royals strolled through the game with a final score of 15-0. The mercy rule is invoked during the National Tournament. Power players for game one were Meela Ly, Sophia Rosendale, Grace Brassfield, Sophia Gonzalez, Giselle Baeza and Andra Brenneman. The player of the game was Sophie Viramontes.

HIU advanced to the semifinals against fellow GSAC opponent Arizona Christian after the Firestorm defeated Missouri Valley College. Again, the Royals dominated the game to polish off a 14-0 win. Power players for game two were Rosendale, Mackenzie Flowers, Claire Zenisek and Ivy Martinez. The player of the game was Gonzalez. 

The championship game featured a rematch against ACU, which prevailed against MVC again to reach the finals. Easily dominating once again, the Royals downed the Firestorm 15-0. Power players were Rosendale, Brassfield, Ly, Baeza and Brenneman. Player of the game went to Flowers and the Tournament MVP was Rosendale.

Eighteen HIU athletes were named to the all-tournament team – First Team honors for Addy Drumond, Brenneman, Zenisek, Cynthia Martinez, Baeza, Martinez, Flowers, Ly, Gonzalez and Rosendale.  The Second Team honorees included Aly Lorenzo, Alexus Collins, Brassfield, Jessica Bustamante, Kimmie Yost, Lexy Young, Sami Cohen and Viramontes.

The Royals ended their season 29-2. They earned their 100th program win and won conference championships for the third year in a row and the national title for the second straight year.
