Seniors Celebrated as STUNT Remains Undefeated

Fullerton, CA:  The last home games of the season brought the celebration of our 10 graduating seniors. These 10 athletes have provided the legacy in which STUNT will continue upholding. Nicole Contreras, Daisy Yarasca, Paris Crockett, Bernice Lopez, Jasmine Rincon, Jamie GoldmanKaitlyn Kelly and Kamea Binnquist were all part of the inaugural team at HIU. These 8 athletes started the program and achieved tremendous success these past 4 years. In the first season they qualified for nationals and ranked 5th and took home 3rd place after a hard-fought tournament. This led to HIU becoming a force in the sport. Year two brought us Madison Nguyen and more success with another 3rd place finish at nationals. Danielle Saaverde joined in year three which was the year HIU became a powerhouse in the sport winning the GSAC championship tournament and a 2nd place finish at Nationals. Currently the team in undefeated and looking to take the top place at NAIA nationals in April. These athletes will be forever missed and the legacy they have left is indescribable.
In game  of onethe night the Royals faced the Rattlers of St. Marys University from Austin, Texas.  STMU is currently ranked 11th in the D2 division. The game brought excitement as all higher levels' routines were played with both teams. The Royals easily scored throughout the first half. Jumps and tumbling started off with a tie on JT7. The Royals took the next two points in quarter three but lost one on JT2. The fourth quarter had the Royals in control the entire time only losing a point on JT7 as they won 22-3. This is the first time the Royals played the Rattlers. Power players for the game were Nicole Contreras, Kamea Binnquist, Ivy Martinez, Jamie Goldman and Sophia Rosendale
In game two of the night the Royals finished out conference play against the Firestorm of ACU in a modified twelve round game. With several new players taking the mat, the Royals still breezed past the Firestorm 12-0 taking all points in a perfect shut out. The highlight of the game besides seeing newer players take the mat was Kamea Binnquist who is a flyer making her main base debut in PT1 and Nicole Contreras who is a main base take to the air and fly for PT1- a fun change we made for their senior night- both successful and still managed the points! Power players for the game were Bernice Lopez, Sophia Gonzalez, Alexis Lorenzo and Giselle Baeza. The Royals will face off against the Firestorm at the GSAC championship tournament on April 5.
Next up for the Royals is a trip up North to Oregon to play 3 games on the road.
