Seeley and Wallin Combine For Complete Game Shutout of No. 25 Mustangs

Fullerton, CA – The No. 8 Hope International University baseball team (19-4, 5-0 GSAC) opened a four game GSAC series against the No. 25 Master's University Mustangs with a dominant 21-0 shutout win on the road in Santa Clarita, CA.

Trey Seeley (6-0) picked up his sixth win pitching 5 2/3 shutout innings allowing just one hit while walking five and striking out eight. Matthew Pinal led the Royals offense going 3-for-4 with 6 RBIs and a grand slam.

Seeley started the game off by retiring the Mustangs in order while the Mustangs pitcher kept the Royals offense in check for the first two innings. Bartee then broke out of his slump as he put the Royals on top to leadoff the top of the third with his team leading seventh home run of the season to make it 1-0. Two batters later Matthew Pinal delivered an RBI single to center to increase the Royals lead to 2-0. Later in the inning the Royals loaded the bases and would score another run on a bases loaded walk by Spencer Davis to make it 3-0.

The Mustangs looked for a response in the bottom of the third as they loaded the bases with one out but Seeley came right back to strikeout the next two batters, the GSAC home run leader and the second one on a full count to preserve the Royals lead. The Royals then struck for two more runs in the top of the fifth as Trotter Boston crushed his sixth home run of the year to increase the Royals lead to 5-0. Seeley continued to shutdown the Mustangs bats while the Royals broke open the game in the top of the sixth as they sent fifteen batters to the plate. A hit batter and four straight walks gave the Royals a 7-0 lead before Boston delivered an RBI groundout to make it 8-0. The Royals would then take advantage of several errors to make it 11-0 before Julian Francois delivered a two run single to center to make it 13-0. The Royals weren't done yet as Matthew Pinal crushed his fourth home run of the year, a grand slam to right as the Royals took a commanding 17-0 lead.

The Mustangs looked for a response but could find nothing as Luke Wallin came in from the bullpen to shutdown the Mustangs over the final 3 1/3 innings allowing just two hits while walking one and striking out three. The Royals weren't done yet on offense as Enrique Lopez delivered an RBI groundout and Willson Dunn delivered an RBI single to make it 19-0. Alec Castillo then launched his second home run of the season, a two run shot as the Royals went on to win 21-0.

The Royals continue their GSAC series against The Master's on Saturday, March 15 with a doubleheader beginning at 11:00 AM in Santa Clarita, CA.
