FULLERTON – The Hope International community mourns the loss of Jorge Perez, a men's soccer student-athlete and Student Government Association President, who passed away this morning following a battle with brain cancer.
"Jorge was a beloved member of our student body," said Hope International President Paul H. Alexander. "He was a leader, a friend, a student-athlete, and one of the nicest and kindest people you could hope to know. Throughout his courageous battle, Jorge kept his kind and loving attitude day in and day out.
"Our hearts and prayers are with his family, his teammates, and the Student Government team."
Perez played two seasons for the Royals. He finished second on the team with eight goals as a freshman and added three assists to tie for second with 19 points. In his sophomore season, he tallied three goals and three assists for nine points.
He helped the Royals to back-to-back GSAC Tournament championships and NAIA Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024.
