Royals Bounce Back Shutout Owls 3-0

Irvine, CA – The Hope International men's soccer team (2-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season as they shutout the Oregon Institute of Technology Owls 3-0 on Saturday evening at home at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.

It was the Owls who created some early chances but goalie Milton Herrera kept them off the board to keep the game goalless. The Royals would then create a great chance in the 19th minute but Matthias Alcaraz's shot was fired just over the bar. A few minutes later the Royals drew a huge opportunity as Braulio Morales was fouled just outside of the box to setup a free kick in a dangerous area. Cristian Carranza then struck the bar but the rebound was bundled home by Vincent Lopez for his first career Royals goal to put the Royals up 1-0 in the 29th minute. The Royals then pushed for more before halftime but were unable to convert as they took a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The Royals quickly doubled their lead to start the half as Jorge Perez drilled the bar from long range but Diego Alvarado was on the doorstep for his first Royals goal to make it 2-0 in the 46th minute. No sooner had the play restarted and the ball was in the net again as Emi Amaro played a long ball into the box that Aldo Ramirez got a touch on past the goalkeeper for his first Royals goal to make it 3-0 in the 49th minute. The Royals continued to push for more but couldn't add to their lead. Meanwhile the Owls finally created some chances in the final minutes as they came close but goalie Berlin Torres shut them down as the Royals won 3-0. Herrera picked up the win in goal playing the first half while recording two saves and Torres played the second half recording one save

The Royals continue action at home as they host Eastern Oregon on Thursday, September 12 at 3:00 PM at Biola University in La Mirada, CA.
