Morales's Brace Lead Royals in 3-0 Shutout of Redhawks

Chandler, AZ – The Hope International men's soccer team (5-1-1, 2-0-1 GSAC) started their GSAC road trip on the right foot with a 3-0 win over the Benedictine Mesa University Redhawks on Thursday evening on the road at Chandler Gilbert Community College in Chandler, AZ.

The Redhawks started out on the attack and created several opportunities but Royals goalie Milton Herrera came up with several big stops to keep the game scoreless. The Royals then took the lead in the 27th minute as Andy Cabrera whipped in a great corner kick to Braulio Morales who headed it in at the far post for his second goal of the season to put the Royals up 1-0. The Royals defense then shut the Redhawks down the rest of the way as the Royals took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Herrera played the first half in goal recording nine saves.

The Redhawks looked for the equalizer to start the half as they created several chances but it was the Royals who doubled their advantage in the 54th minute as Morales scored his second of the game to make it 2-0. The Red Hawks looked for an answer but the Royals defense held them while the offense struck again in the 78th minute. This time it was Uriel Sanchez who struck a superb ball across the box for Sebastian Ramirez who finished for his first of the season to make it 3-0. The Royals had a late opportunity for another but Jorge Perez hit the crossbar as the Royals won 3-0. Berlin Torres played the second half in goal and recorded four saves.

The Royals continue GSAC play on the road as they travel to Mesa, AZ to take on Park-Gilbert on Saturday, September 28 at 8:00 PM.
