Royals and Buccaneers finish Scoreless in Arizona

Mesa, AZ – The Hope International men's soccer team (5-1-2, 2-0-2 GSAC) wrapped up their first GSAC road trip to Arizona with a goalless draw against the Park University Gilbert Buccaneers on Saturday evening on the road in Mesa, AZ.

The Royals started out on the attack and came close to scoring in the 10th minute as Uriel Sanchez's shot clanged off the post. The Buccaneers then had a chance that was saved by Royals goalie Berlin Torres. The Royals continued to push for the opener as they created two more chances but shots by Riley Ortiz and Gio Marin were saved by the Buccaneers goalie. The Royals defense also shutdown the Buccaneers as the game was scoreless at halftime. 

The Buccaneers had the first great chance of the half but Royals goalie Milton Herrera was right on it to make the save and keep the game scoreless. Later on It looked like the Royals had taken the lead in the 70th minute but the goal was waved off due to a foul. The Royals had another great chance in the 76th minute but Uriel Sanchez couldn't put the header on target. Braulio Morales and Emi Amaro had late chances to score but neither could find the net as the game finished 0-0. Torres played the first half in net while Herrera played the second half recording one save.

The Royals continue GSAC play on the road as they travel to Mesa, AZ to take on Park-Gilbert on Saturday, September 28 at 8:00 PM.
