Nine Different Royals Score in Big GSAC Opening Win Over Warriors

Fullerton, CA – The Hope International men's soccer team's (9-1-1) got their GSAC regular season title defense of to a great start as they dominated the Life Pacific Warriors 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.

The Royals pushed forward from the start creating several opportunities before Colm Cohen found Leo Perez in the middle of the box who fired home to put the Royals up 1-0 in the 25th minute. Then just moments later the Royals drew a penalty that Jesse Mancilla converted to make it 2-0 in the 26th minute. The floodgates would open from there as Cohen and Leo Perez combined to find Jorge Perez who made it 3-0 in the 28th. The Royals would then add two more goals from Sebastian Ramirez and Anthony Acosta in the 37th and 38th minutes as they went into halftime with a 5-0 lead.

The Royals made some halftime adjustments to get more players in the game as Lewis Blanton took over in goal after Milton Herrera played the first 90 recording four saves. The Royals then added to their lead in the 60th minute as Tyler Moch raced down the right side and crossed in to Gio Marin who finished for his first of the season to make it 6-0. The Royals would strike for more late as Joseph Trejo whipped in a great cross to Arjan Chahal who fired home for his first of the season to make it 7-0 in the 88th minute. Then moments later Lex Leathem scored his first season of the season and finally Leathem returned the favor as he found Diego Lopez who scored on the counter as the Royals went on to win 9-0. 

The Royals will return to action at home on Saturday, October 7 with a big matchup against defending GSAC Tournament Champions Vanguard at 4:30 PM at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.
