Fullerton, CA - The Hope International University men's soccer team (4-1) bounced back from Thursday's loss as they smashed the Life Pacific University Warriors 11-0 in a historic victory on Saturday evening at the OC Great Park Soccer Stadium. It was the second most goals in a game in Royals history dating back to 1997.
The Royals were on the front foot from the opening whistle and it didn't take long to open the scoring as
Diego Lopez crossed the ball into
Jorge Perez who smashed one in to put the Royals up 1-0 in the 4th minute. Minutes later
Leo Perez broke through on goal and found
Diego Lopez for his first of the game to make it 2-0 in the 8th minute. Then in the 15th minute the Royals scored again as
Jesse Mancilla scored his first of the season after being set up by
Jorge Perez to make it 3-0. Moments after the restart Mancilla returned the favor as he laid off the ball to
Jorge Perez who finished for his second of the game to make it 4-0. The Warriors meanwhile couldn't mount anything on the attack while the Royals scored again with
Diego Lopez setting up
Christian Uriostequi who scored his first of the season to give the Royals a commanding 5-0 lead at halftime.
Coming out of the break the Royals weren't content to let up as they searched for more goals. The breakthrough this time didn't come until the 75th minute as
Leo Perez crossed in a great corner kick to
Ryan Belmont who fired home for his first in a Royals uniform to make it 6-0. From there the floodgates really opened as
Leo Perez found
Samuel Mai for his first career goal in the 80th minute to make it 7-0. Moments later the Royals put the ball in the back of the net again as
Cristian Carranza found
Sebastian Ramirez to make it 8-0 in the 81st minute.
Ryan Jamir would then set up Carranza for his first Royals goal in the 82nd minute to make it 9-0. The Royals didn't let up as
Leo Perez notched a Royals single game record 4th assist as he found
Diego Lopez for his second of the game in the 84th minute to make it 10-0. The Royals weren't done quite yet as Uriostequi whipped in a great corner kick in the 87th minute that
Dakota Nering finished for his first Royals goal as the Royals came away with an 11-0 win.
Milton Herrera started in goal and recorded just one save while
Trevor Jones made his Royals debut coming in for the final 29 minutes.
