Fullerton, CA - The Hope International University men's soccer team (6-1-1) trounced the Bethesda University of California Flames 7-0 on Thursday evening at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.
The Royals put heavy pressure on the Flames early and it payed off quickly as
Jesse Mancilla found
Jorge Perez on the counter for the opening goal in the 12th minute to put the Royals up 1-0. No sooner had the ball gone in the net then the Royals struck again as
Anthony Acosta raced down the right side and crossed it in to Mancilla who finished to increase the Royals lead to 2-0 less than a minute later. The Royals would continue to dominate possession and struck again in the 23rd minute as
Sebastian Ramirez fed
Jorge Perez who struck for his second of the game to put the Royals up 3-0 at halftime.
The Flames came out of the break looking for a breakthrough but once again it was the Royals who found the back of the net as
Samuel Mai threw in to
Diego Lopez who raced in and then blasted the ball into the top corner to make it 4-0 in the 53rd minute. The Royals would strike again in the 70th minute as this time Mai scored his second of the season from
Gio Marin to increase the lead to 5-0. Later
Braulio Morales found
Angel Magdaleno who delivered a golazo from outside the box in the 83rd minute to make it 6-0. The Royals weren't done yet though as
Cory Booth scored his first of the season from Morales in the 88th minute as the Royals went onto win 7-0.
Trevor Jones got his first start in goal and played all 90 minutes making one save.Â
The Royals continue action at home as they host the University of Antelope Valley on Saturday, September 16 at 2:00 PM at Troy High School in Fullerton, CA.
