Talley Leads With 24 As Royals Bounce Back With Big Win Over Hawks

Fullerton, CA - The Hope International University women's basketball team (18-7, 11-5 GSAC) bounced back from back to back losses with an emphatic 83-54 victory over the San Diego Christian College Hawks on Saturday afternoon at the Darling Pavilion in Fullerton, CA.

The Hawks got off to a good start as they took an early 7-2 lead but the Royals broke out of a slump with a big 13-2 run finished off by a layup from Mia Heidt to take a 15-9 lead. The Hawks closed the quarter outscoring the Royals as the Royals led 17-14 at the end of the first. The Royals quickly took control in the second as they used another 13-2 run led by four points from Jeanette Fine to take a 30-16 lead. The Hawks tried to fight back but it was all Royals as they closed the quarter with a 40-21 halftime lead.

The third quarter was high scoring as the Royals extended their lead to 53-25 on a layup by Shiane Talley midway through the quarter. The Hawks continued to score to but the Royals answered every step of the way as they took a 69-41 lead at the end of the third. The Royals continued to dominate in the fourth as they began the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 74-41 lead as they went on to win 83-54. Talley led the Royals with 24 points while Fine recorded a double double (10 points, 11 rebounds).

The Royals continue GSAC action on the road as they travel to San Dimas, CA to take on Life Pacific on Thursday, February 16 at 5:30 PM.
