Talley Leads With a Rare Triple Double as Royals Dominate Lincoln 77-56

Lancaster, CA - The Hope International University women's basketball team (2-0) won their second game in a row as they wrapped up play at the Antelope Valley Tournament with a big 77-56 victory over the Lincoln University Oaklanders on Saturday afternoon in Lancaster, CA.

It was the Oaklanders who came out hot as they took an early 6-2 lead, but the Royals came right back on an 11-2 run led by five points from Casey Fust to take a 13-8 lead. The Oaklanders would fight to make it close as they made it 18-16 but the Royals got layups from Shiane Talley and Amira Austin to take a 22-16 lead at the end of the first. The Oaklanders would keep it within 26-20 early in the second but the Royals answered with an 8-2 run led by six points from Talley to take a 34-22 lead. After an Oaklanders basket the Royals closed out the half on a 9-0 run capped off a three from Fust to take a 43-24 halftime lead. 

The Royals continued to build on their lead lead in the third as a layup by Talley put them up 53-28 with 6:31 to go. The Oaklanders continued to fight as they used a 7-0 run to get within 53-35 but the Royals closed out the quarter on an 8-0 run led by back to back threes from Shailissa Jarrett and Keira McNamee to take a 61-35 lead at the break. The Royals continued to dominate to start the fourth as they increased their lead to a game high 29 points at 72-43 on a layup by Talley midway through the quarter. The Royals would then emply their bench allowing the Oaklanders to narrow the gap as the Royals won 77-56. Talley led the way with a triple double (22 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists).

The Royals next take on Cal State Bakersfield in an exhibition game on Thursday, November 2 at 7:00 PM in Bakersfield. They will then return to regular season action at the Southern Oregon University Tournament on Thursday, November 9 at 6:30 PM as they take on host Southern Oregon in Ashland, OR.
