Morales's First of the Season Seals Royals 1-0 Shutout of Warriors

Rocklin, CA – The Hope International men's soccer team (13-3-1, 5-2 GSAC) wrapped up GSAC regular season play with a 1-0 shutout of the Jessup University Warriors on the road on Saturday afternoon in Rocklin..

The Warriors came out looking like the better team as they controlled the ball and had several shot attempts. The biggest came in the 10th minute as Milton Herrera delivered an amazing fingertip save at full stretch off a Warriors free kick to keep the game scoreless. The Royals then grew into the game and found the opening goal as Tyler Moch whipped in a great ball to Braulio Morales who headed home for his first of the season to put the Royals up 1-0 in the 18th minute. The Royals looked to add to their lead but were unable to do so as they went into halftime up 1-0.

The Royals pushed forward looking for a second and came close as Gio Marin and Angel Magdaleno generated chances but couldn't finish past the Warriors keeper as the score remained 1-0. The Warriors also pushed for the equalizer but Herrera came up with two big saves to start the half and keep the Warriors off the board. The Royals then settled in defensively and didn't allow any late opportunities as they kept the ball in their corner and emerged with a 1-0 shutout win. Herrera played all 90 minutes in goal to earn the shutout while recording four saves.

With the win the Royals clinch the third seed in the GSAC Tournament and will host six seeded Arizona Christian on Saturday, November 4 at 1:00 PM at the OC Great Park in Irvine, CA.
