Royals Fall 3-1 to Oaks on Senior Day

Irvine, CA – The Hope International men's soccer team (12-3-1, 4-2-0 GSAC) fell 3-1 to the Menlo College Oaks on Saturday morning at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.

Prior to the start of the game the Royals honored their seniors and gave a special moment to injured forward Diego Lopez. The Oaks then came out of the gate quickly and created an early chance but goalie Milton Herrera came up with a big double save to keep the game scoreless. The Royals then had a great chance through Jesse Mancilla but the Oaks goalie came up with a big save to keep it 0-0. The Oaks then would take advantage of a soft foul to make it 1-0 in the 14th minute. The Royals then pushed for the equalizer but once again the Oaks took advantage of another soft call this time in the box to make it 2-0 at halftime.

The Royals didn't give up and came out pressing hard to start the second half. That hard work would pay off as Leo Perez whipped in a corner that found the back of the net off an Oaks defender in the 48th minute to pull the Royals within 2-1. The Royals then gained an advantage when an Oaks defender was sent off with 20 minutes to go but it was the Oaks who would score again in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1. The Royals continued to battle but just couldn't finish as they fell 3-1.

The Royals continue GSAC action on the road as they head to Northern California to take on Jessup at 11:00 AM in Rocklin, CA.
