Claremont, CA - The Hope International men;s Track and Field team kicked off their season on Saturday, January 28th at 12:00 PM at the OIDFE Challenge Meet hosted by Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, CA.
The Royals had a little "rust buster" on Saturday to open the 2023 Indoor Track & Field season at Claremont McKenna College.Â
Ricardo Cruz led the way by crushing the 3000m school record by a whopping 14 seconds. Cruz finished 10
th overall with a time of 8:43.87, just missing the NAIA Qualifying time of 8:36.50. Also running the 3000m were
Luis Diaz ran 9:27.63 finishing in 25
th,
Diego Pineda ran 9:49.69 in 27th, and
Morgan Faunce ran 9:51.43 in 28
th place. Freshman,
Taysir Mack opened up his college career with a time of 7.79 in the 60m and 25.91 in the 200m.Â
Marcus Abendanio also ran the 60m and 200m with times of 7.83 and 25.33 respectively. The Royals wrapped up the day with a 2
nd place finish in the 1600m Relay with a time of 3:51.36. It was a great start to the season. Next race for the Royals will be February 11
th at Westmont College.
