SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - On Saturday the HIU Indoor Track teams opened up their season at the "On Your Marks" meet hosted by Westmont College.
The Royals walked away with three New School Records, the first being set by Emma Timmermans (FR/Santa Ana, CA) in the mile running 5:18.17 and finishing in 4th place. The second school record was set by Sofia Gutierrez (SO/Placentia, CA) in the 300m running 47.15 and finishing 7th in her heat. The third school record was set by Diego Pineda (FR/Corona, CA) in the 1000m running 2:43.17 and finishing 6th overall.
Joseph Clemons (SO/Val Verde, CA) just missed his current record by .01, by running 1:23.77 and finishing in 4th place.
"Overall, the coaching staff is very proud of the athletes in the manner in which they competed this weekend. We look forward to more improvements in the next meet on February 12th, " Head Coach Dan Whittington.
