Lancaster, CA – The Hope International men's soccer team (3-0) ran their season opening win streak to three games as they took down the University of Antelope Valley Pioneers 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Royals started the game on the front foot as they controlled possession and generated several early opportunities, but early on the Pioneers defense held strong as their goalie came up with several big stops. The Royals weren't to be denied though as Jesus Vargas found Willy Loredo-Suarez who opened the scoring in the 23rd minute for his first goal of the season to give the Royals a 1-0 lead. Despite the Royals having the better opportunities the Pioneers tied the game in 33rd minute at 1-1 which was where the score would stand at halftime. The second half started more even as both teams generated opportunities and it looked like the Royals had a great chance to retake the lead but they were unable to convert a penalty attempt in the 54th minute. It didn't take long though for them to get back ahead as Tyler Moch put home his first goal of the season in the 65th minute to make it 2-1. Five minutes later Christian Uriostequi found Henoc Samba for his first goal of the year to extend the Royals lead to 3-1. From there the game settled down as few chances were created but the Royals did cash in late as Loredo-Suarez passed off to Sebastian Ramirez who found the back of the net in the 89th minute as the Royals won 4-1.

The Royals will return to action on Saturday, September 3 against UC Merced at 11:00 AM in Merced, CA.
