Royals Smash DIII Regals 84-53

Fullerton, CA - The Hope International University women's basketball team (4-1) won their fourth game in a row as they smashed NCAA Division III opponent Cal Lutheran Regals 84-53 on Saturday evening in the Darling Pavilion.

It was a close game at the beginning as the Royals held a 9-7 lead midway through the first quarter. Then they hit another gear as they outscored the Regals 11-5 led by six points from Jeanette Fine as they took a 20-12 lead at the end of the first. The Regals battled back as they pulled within 21-19 but the Royals quickly answered on an 8-0 run to take a 29-19 advantage. From there it was all Royals as they closed the quarter with a big layup and one from Surie Camacho to take a 44-29 lead at halftime.

The Regals didn't give up as they got back within 10 but the Royals had all the answers as they went on a 10-0 run finished off by a basket from Calla Anderson as they took a 59-39 lead with 3:28 remaining. The Royals then finished the quarter strong as they took a 64-54 lead at the end of the third. The Royals continued to dominate as they started the quarter on a 6-0 run before closing out the game 14-8 as they won 84-53. Fine led the way for the Royals with another double double scoring 14 points and tallying 10 rebounds.

The Royals continue play at home as they open up the GSAC season against Menlo College on Thursday, November 17 at 5:30 PM in Fullerton, CA
