Joe Lurker was named Assistant Athletic Director, Head Men's Soccer Coach in 2014 where he served through the Fall of 2024. Coach Lurker originally joined the Royals in 2006 and was the Head Men's Soccer Coach for 15 seasons (2006-2010, 2014-2024). He also led the women's soccer program briefly in 2010. Under Lurker's coaching expertise, the men's program collected 151 wins in his fifteen years- the most of any Royals coach in program history.

Coach Lurker's teams have been quite successful posting winning records in nine of the last eleven years including winning the GSAC Regular Season Championship in 2014, 2022 and 2024 and the GSAC Tournament Championship in 2023 and 2024. Under Coach Lurker the Royals have had four NAIA All-Americans, 36 All-GSAC athletes, two GSAC Players of the Year (Jesus Vargas 2022 and Thales Serra 2016) and one GSAC Freshman of the Year (Dario Robles 2022). Prior to entering the NAIA he also helped the Royals earn seven NCCAA All-Americans. He has also been named GSAC Coach of the Year three times (2014, 2022, 2024). One of the top moments in Coach Lurker's career came in his first year coaching when Hope International defeated the NAIA's #2 Azusa Pacific University 1-0.
