LA MIRADA, Calif. – Franco Marambio scored a pair of goals to lead visiting Benedictine Mesa to a 2-0 GSAC men's soccer victory over Hope International on Saturday at Biola's Al Barbour Field.
Marambio posted his goals in the 33rd and 89th minutes as the Royals lost their first GSAC encounter to fall to 4-2-2 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play.
Despite getting outshot 12-9 and losing the corner kick battle 6-1, Benedictine Mesa made the most of its opportunities in improving to 4-1-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the GSAC.
Matthias Alcaraz led the Royals with four shots.
BENU goalkeeper Charlie Shepherd notched six saves in securing the shutout. HIU goalie Tyler Beehler made five saves.
HIU hosts Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. inside the OC Great Park Stadium.
