FULLERTON – Hope International posted wins at two singles positions, but lost 5-2 to visiting Biola on Thursday at the Fullerton Tennis Center.

The Royals earned points at the top and bottom of the ladder. Karan Srivastava was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 1 against Juan Vallejo, while Mohamed El Sheikh overcame a tough first set to prevail 0-6, 6-4, 10-8 versus Ashton Yarwood.

HIU lost the other four positions, with Sebastien Dizon Perez battling Mateo Rivas at No. 5, falling 7-5, 6-2. Both Thomas Folsom and Kaito Henderson lost by identical 6-1, 6-2 scores on line 3 and 4, respectively.

Reid Lizardo fell at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2, to Pol Masafret Hernandez.

The match began with the Eagles winning the doubles point. Vallejo and Masafret Hernandez defeated Srivastava and Folsom, 6-3, at No. 1. Lizardo and Perez responded with a 6-3 win of their own at No. 2 against Keyon Gahvarehchi and Rivas. But Yarwood and Thiago Canessa posted a dominant 6-1 win at No. 3 against Dylan Barrett and Kaito Henderson.

HIU is now 9-11 on the season.

The Royals host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the regular season finale.
