LOMPOC, Calif. – Sophomore Miranda Cervantes posted the second-best round of the field on Tuesday during round two of the 2026 GSAC Women's Golf Championship at La Purisima Golf Course.
Cervantes carded a 3-over 75 to climb from 10th place into a tie for second after 36 holes on the 5,930-yard course. Cervantes improved by eight strokes after firing an opening round 83.
The Master's Hannah Ulibarri was the only golfer to top the performance by Cervantes on Tuesday. Ulibarri posted a 2-over 74 to remain the clubhouse leader at 5-over 149.
Cervantes is tied with Embry-Riddle teammates Lila Becker and Olivia Zamarripa, and OUAZ's Chiara Israng for second place.
The highlight of the round for Cervantes was an eagle on the par-6 457-yard sixth hole. The Fullerton native also notched birdies on the par-5 first and 15th holes. She was shooting even par when her only big blemish took place on the par-4, 14th hole when she posted a triple bogey.
Ylianna Fernandez is tied for eighth following a second round 83.
HIU is one of just three teams with at least two golfers ranked individually in the top-10.
The HIU duo returns to action on Wednesday for the final round of the GSAC Championship.
