LOMPOC, Calif. – Miranda Cervantes and Ylianna Fernandez finished fourth and 11th individually to represent Hope International women's golf at the TMU Invite on Tuesday at the La Purisima Golf Course.
The site – which also will host the upcoming GSAC Championship – plays to 6,006 yards on the par-72 course.
Cervantes carded an 84 in the first round and an 80 in the second to finish at 20-over 164. She was just one shot behind third place finisher Hannah Ulibarri of The Master's and two shots behind runner-up Nikki Bowen of Arizona Christian.
Cervantes posted birdies on a pair of par 5's in the opening round – the 457-yard sixth and 458-yard 15th. In the final round, she had a birdie on the par-5 447-yard first hole and another on the par-4 329-yard 11th.
Missing the top-10 by just one shot, Fernandez shot an identical 14-over 86 in both rounds.
The individual champion was Victoria British Columbia golfer Cindy Koira, who fired the lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 4-over 76. She finished 14-over for the tournament.
HIU's women are back in action on Thursday at the Soka Invitational, held at the Costa Mesa Country Club.
