Vivian Little and Kaitlyn Maaske received recognition as the Great Southwest Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in helping Hope International finish 4-2, including a win over No. 1 Southern Oregon.
Little hit .533 (8-for-15) with three runs scored and six RBI. She led HIU at the plate against Southern Oregon, going 3-for-6 with a double. Four of her eight hits went for doubles.
She went 2-for-3 with four RBI in a 10-1 mercy-rule victory over Westcliff. The outfielder had at least one hit in five of the six games.
Maaske finished 3-0 with a 1.84 ERA in the circle, going the distance in all three wins against Nelson, Westcliff and Southern Oregon. She walked just three and struck out 14 over 19.0 innings. Maaske allowed just one run in her outings against Nelson and Westcliff.
After giving up three early runs against the Raiders, she held them in check as HIU stormed back for the 5-3 victory.
