RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Hope International men's tennis lost a 7-0 battle to NCAA Division I program UC Riverside on Thursday at the SRC Tennis Courts.
The Royals dropped the doubles point after losing at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions on the ladder. Kento Henderson and Dylan Barrett fell in a close tiebreaker battle at No. 3 against Andrew Lavine and Noris Nedelcovici, 7-6 (5).
HIU lost all six singles matches in straight sets. Kaito Henderson took Lavine deep into the second set before succumbing 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4.
Reid Lizardo also battled in the first set against Ivaylo Simeonov in the No. 2 spot, losing 6-4, 6-1.
The Royals return to action on Saturday, hosting Westmont for a noon contest at the Fullerton Tennis Center.
