FULLERTON – Hope International men's tennis returned to its winning ways on Friday with a 5-2 victory over visiting Whittier College at the Fullerton Tennis Center. 

The Royals earned the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. The top-ranked Royals tandem of Karan Srivastava and Reid Lizardo dominated in a 6-0 decision over Dylan Duong and Dario Ludusan. Michael Lumang and Sebastien Dizon Perez also took a 6-2 victory at the threes against Tyler Perez and Suraj Somaskandan.

HIU (2-3) won four of the six singles matches, with all triumphs coming in straight sets. Srivastava was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at No. 1 against Duong, and Lizardo prevailed 6-2, 6-3 in his match with Ludusan.

Kaito Henderson breezed to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 against Perez. Kento Henderson was equally commanding in his 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Somaskandan.

HIU plays its third match in as many days, hosting NCAA Division I foe UC Davis on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
