SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Hope International junior Maya Estrada-Garcia finished 46th out of 209 runners at the TMU XC Invitational on Saturday at Central Park.
It was the collegiate debut for Estrada-Garcia and the season opener for the women's cross country team.Â
Estrada-Garcia, a transfer from Mt. SAC, traversed the 6K course in 23:40.40.
Also competing for HIU was junior Lupe Mata, who came in 81st place with a time of 24:32.90.
The Royals duo competed among a field which included NCAA Division I teams Loyola Marymount, San Diego and Hawai'i.
LMU was the team champion with 77 points.
Individual champion was Suzie Johnson from host The Master's. She recorded a time of 21:27.50.
HIU returns to action on Saturday, September 27 at the UCR Invitational.
