LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Hope International and Occidental College battled to a 1-1 draw on at Jack Kemp Stadium in men's soccer nonconference action on Friday.

Senior forward Diego Albanez scored his team-high tying second goal in the third minute off an assist from Matthias Alcaraz. Occidental tied the score at the 18:59 mark on a Devin Bening offering from Elijah Edelman.

Occidental held a 9-5 advantage in shots and 5-3 edge in corner kicks. The two teams both took three shots in the second half. 

Berlin Torres made two saves for the Royals, while counterpart Joseph Bassett stopped one shot.

The Royals (1-1-3) begin GSAC play on Wednesday, September 17 against Life Pacific. The game kicks off at noon on the campus of La Verne.
