Royals Downed by Corban

SALEM, Ore. – Amira Austin scored a team-high 16 points, but Corban had seven players in double figures, and Hope International struggled to a 99-67 women's basketball loss on Thursday.

Austin made 8 of 13 shots from the field and yanked down a team-high six rebounds, but was limited to 24 minutes due to foul trouble.

Nicole Chuang added 13 points and hit three triples, and Aliyah Gonzalez provided 10 points, five rebounds and two steals.

The Warriors shot 51.5 (34 of 66) percent from the field and knocked down 13 three-pointers, including four from Tori Younker, who led her team with 15 points.

Corban also shot 90.0 (18 of 20) percent from the free throw line.

The Royals found themselves in an early 16-0 hole and did not score their first points until an Angelina De Leon layup at the 4:22 mark. HIU trailed 29-7 after one quarter, shooting just 3 of 15 (20.0%) overall compared to 56.3 (9 of 16) percent shooting for the Warriors.

Corban outscored HIU by nine points in the second quarter to build a 57-26 halftime lead. Chuang, Austin and Gonzalez combined for 17 of the team's 19 points in the second period.

HIU played much better in the second half and shot 53.3 (8 of 15) percent in the fourth quarter when both teams scored 24 points apiece. Natalie Acuna tallied a team-high six points in the quarter.
