Surprise, AZ – The Hope International men's volleyball team (6-14, 1-7) put up a fight but fell 3-1 to the No. 3 Ottawa University Arizona Spirit on Friday evening on the road in Surprise, AZ.

Once again the Royals gave the Spirit a challenge in the early stages as the Royals went up 6-5 with a kill from Brian Castro. The Spirit had all the answers as they grinded out to a 17-12 advantage. The Royals kept it close as they used a late 3-0 run to get within 23-20 but they weren unable to get closer as they fell 25-20 and trailed 2-0.

The Royals weren't about to go down easily as they fought back in the third set. The Spirit had other ideas as they took the early lead but the Royals used a 4-0 run with two kills by Coby Prowse to take a 9-6 lead. The Spirit slowly but surely crawled their way back to 19-18 but the Royals quickly answered with a kill and a service ace by Proswe to go up 21-18. The Spirit once again rallied to make it 24-23 but Prowse closed out the set with a kill as the Royals won 25-23 and made it 2-1. The Royals looked to force a fifth set as a kill by Andy Tran tied the set 11-11 early on but the Spirit had all the answers as they raced away to win 25-17 and 3-1.
