Fullerton, CA - The Hope International University men's basketball team's (14-4) won their fourth game in a row as they shutdown the SAGU American Indian Warriors 82-52 on Tuesday evening at home in the Darling Pavilion
The teams exchanged leads to start the game before the Royals seized control as
Grant Sii hit a three to start a 10-0 run led by four points from
Ausage Siamu to put them up 17-7 with 11:03 remaining. The Warriors answered to make it 17-10 but the Royals continued to dominate as they went on a 13-2 run led by seven points from
Cameron Dashiell as they extended their lead to 30-12. The Warriors cut it back to 32-17 but the Royals defense continued to generate turnovers as they finished the half on an 8-1 run to take a commanding 40-18 halftime advantage.
The Warriors chewed into the Royals lead to start the half as they got within 46-29 with 16:26 to go. The Royals quickly answered as
Calen Murray drained a three to start a 12-3 run that was finished off by a
Tristan Williams layup to put the Royals ahead 58-32 with twelve minutes to go. The Royals offense continued to push as back to back threes from Williams and
Jozelle Carter Jr gave the Royals their biggest lead, 73-38 with 7:03 remaining. The Royals would empty their bench to end the game as they came away with a big 82-52 victory. Williams led the way going 6-for-9 from the field with 15 points while the Royals defense forced 17 turnovers leading to 24 points.
