Fullerton, CA - The Hope International University men's soccer team (2-0) continued their season with a 4-1 victory over the Park University Gilbert Buccaneers on Saturday afternoon at Orange Lutheran High School in Orange, CA.
The Royals came storming out of the gates as they immediately put the Buccaneers under pressure. After creating several chances the Royals broke through in the 33rd minute as
Tyler Moch played a long ball through to
Diego Lopez who slotted home his first goal of the season to put the Royals up 1-0. Then just three minutes later the Royals launched another counterattack as
Lex Leathem played it off to
Omar Rodriguez who found Lopez for his second of the game in the 36th minute as the Royals headed into halftime up 2-0.
The Buccaneers though regrouped at halftime and came out with some good pressure to force an early free kick which they put home in the 46th minute to pull back within 2-1. No sooner had that happened then the Royals struck again. This time
Christian Uriostequi took a shot on the counterattack then collected his own rebound before passing it off to Lopez who finished off his hat trick with a rocket into the top right corner to put the Royals up 3-1 in the 50th minute. The Royals didn't let up as they continued to push forward finding a fourth goal in the 85th minute as
Anthony Acosta blasted in a wonderful free kick from about 20 yards out as the Royals went on to win 4-1.Â
