Warriors Three Point Shooting To Much For Royals

Santa Barbara, CA - The Hope International University men's basketball team (16-8, 9-6 GSAC) closed out their road trip with a 90-72 loss to the Westmont College Warriors on Saturday afternoon in Santa Barbara, CA.

The Warriors came out of the gate quickly as they took an early 12-2 lead. The Royals fought back though as Jalani Horn scored a basket and one followed by a Gaven Ramirez layup as they cut the deficit to 12-7. That's as close as they got as the Warriors outscored the Royals 8-2 to increase their lead to 20-9 midway through the first. The Warriors continued to light it up from three while the Royals offense struggled as the Warriors increased their lead over the Royals to 51-29 at halftime.

The Royals tried to fight back but just couldn't stop the Warriors as they extended their advantage to 78-49 with 12:03 remaining. Free throws by Ronald Agesbar and a jumper by Teddy Ochieng cut the Royals deficit to 78-53 midway through the second. The Warriors kept firing as they increased their lead to 90-58 with 6:33 to go. The Royals had a bright spot late as they used an 11-3 run with six points from Rasheet Wilson and five from Ramirez to make it 93-69 but ultimately the Warriors won 105-77. Horn led the Royals with 18 points.

The Royals continue GSAC action at home as they host San Diego Christian on Saturday, February 11 at 4:00 PM in the Darling Pavilion in Fullerton, CA.
