Fullerton, CA - The Hope International University men's basketball team (10-3) ran their winning streak to seven games as they smothered the Mount Royal University Cougars 73-50 on Saturday afternoon in the Darling Pavilion.

The Royals got off to a good start as they jumped out to an 11-5 advantage with four points each from Calen Murray and Cameron Dashiell just five minutes into the game. The Cougars quickly regrouped though and answered on an 8-2 run to take a 14-13 advantage with 12:11 to go. This time it was the Royals turn for a response and they did emphatically as Murray hit a jumper to start a 17-2 run as the Royals raced out to a 30-16 lead with 4:26 remaining. From there the teams exchanged baskets as the Royals took a commanding 37-22 lead at halftime. The Royals lead was helped by a defense that forced six turnovers that lead to 15 points.

After the teams traded baskets to start the half the Royals ratcheted up the pressure as they went on a 14-0 run led by six points from Tristan Williams to push their lead to 53-25 with 14:29 remaining. Jonah Felix then gave the Royals their biggest lead at 29 points as he drained a three to make it 56-27. The Cougars didn't go down without a fight as they rallied to pull within 65-47 with 4:20 to go. That was as close as they would get as the Royals clamped down closing the game on an 8-2 run led by four points from Josh Hardiman as they won 73-50. Gaven Ramirez led the Royals with 14 points.
