Royals Can't Close it Out Fall to Firestorm

Glendale, AZ – The Hope International women's volleyball team (9-15, 4-9 GSAC) couldn't hold the early lead as they fell 3-2 to the Arizona Christian Firestorm as they opened up their final GSAC road trip of the year in Arizona on friday evening in Glendale.

The first set was close early on until the Royals went on a 5-1 run to take an 11-6 lead. The Firestorm didn't give up as they stormed back to tie it 19-19. The teams then exchanged lead with both having an opportnity to win it but the Royals had the final say as back to back kills by Cassidy Koffroth gave the Royals a 28-26 win and a 1-0 lead. The Royals continued their momentum into the second set as they once again took an 11-6 lead this time off a service ace from Mia Luna. The Royals then went on an 8-3 run to take a commanding 19-9 lead off a kill from Sofia Ramdahni. The Firestorm would come back to make it 24-18 but a kill from Jade Philips closed out the set 25-18 and put the Royals ahead 2-0.
 
The teams exchanged leads to start the third set as the Firestorm looked to stay alive taking an early 13-12 lead but the Royals answered well to take a 19-15 lead off a kill from Savannah Salter. Once again the Firestorm came back to take a 23-21 lead before going on to win 26-24 and making it 2-1. The Firestorm continued their momentum into the fourth set as they raced out to a 14-8 advantage. The Royals answered to get within 15-12 on a kill by Macie Powell but the Firestorm wouldn't be denied as they raced away to a 25-14 win to tie the game 2-2 and force a winner take all fifth set. 

The Firestorm continued their momentum into the fifth set as they took a 9-4 lead. The Royals continued to fight as they went on a 3-0 run with kills from Ramdhani, Addie Mathias and Macie Powell to make it 9-7. The Firestorm weren't to be denied though as they wrapped up the set on a 6-2 run to win 15-9 and 3-2. Powell led the Royals with 14 kills.

The Royals wrap up GSAC regular season action on the road as they continue their Arizona road trip in Surprise taking on OUAZ on Saturday, October 28 at 2:00 PM.
