Royals Blow Past NCAA DIII Opponent Chapman 88-56

Orange, CA - The Hope International University women's basketball team (2-1) won their second game in a row as they dominated NCAA Division III opponent on the way to an 88-56 victory on Saturday afternoon in Orange, CA

The first quarter was tight as the Royals got out to a 5-0 lead but the Panthers came right back to take a 14-13 lead. The Royals answered on a 7-3 run to take a 21-16 lead led by five points from Shiane Talley. The Panthers would get a late basket as the Royals took a 21-19 advantage at the end of the first. The Royals continued to control the game as they started the quarter on a 7-0 run with Ysabelle Halemano scoring five points as they took a 28-19 lead. The Panthers continued to battle but the Royals had all the answers as they took a 37-29 lead at halftime. 

The start of the third quarter was tight as the Panthers pulled back within 44-37 midway through the quarter. The Royals quickly answered on a 8-0 run with Rachel Capinia and Casey Fust hitting back to back threes to put the Royals ahead 52-37 as they went on to win the quarter 25-18 and extend their advantage to 62-47 at the end of the third. The Royals put to bed any thought of a Panthers comeback as they opened the fourth on a 9-0 run to take a commanding 71-47 advantage as they went on to win the game 88-56. Talley led the Royals with a double double scoring 20 points and tallying 13 rebounds.

The Royals continue play as they travel to Irvine, CA to take on Westcliff on Thursday, November 10 at 7:00 PM.
