Royals Battle Hard But Fall To Warriors

Santa Barbara, CA – The Hope International women's volleyball team (5-18, 4-11) dropped a tough match to Westmont College 3-0 on Saturday evening in Santa Barbara, CA.

The Royals got off to a hot start as they took an early 9-5 lead before going on a 5-0 run led by two kills from Carissa Wiles to take a 14-5 lead. The Royals would continue to hit on all cylinders as they extended their advantage to 19-9. The Warriors though battled back to get within 21-14. Then they went on a 4-0 run to get within 21-18. The Royals answered though as they took a 24-20 lead led by two kills from Wiles. Unfortunately they couldn't hold on as the Warriors went on a 5-1 run taking set 1 27-25 as the Royals fell behind 1-0. The second set started out tight before the Warriors pulled away to a 22-15 lead. The Royals fought back with a 4-0 run to get within 22-19 but the Warriors closed out the set 25-20 take a 2-0 lead. The Warriors continued their momentum into the third set as they built a 15-12 lead. The Royals didn't give up and fought back to to take the lead at 16-15 and then went on to hold a 17-16 lead. The Warriors though came right back to take a 22-20 lead. The Royals battled back to get within 22-23 as they looked to keep the game alive. The Warriors though closed out the game winning 25-22 and 3-0. Cassidy Koffroth and Wiles led the Royals with 8 kills each.

The Royals continue GSAC play on the road as they travel to San Dimas, CA to take on Life Pacific on Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 PM.
